Incorrect number formatting in a cell can cause your cell to appear as something totally different and it can be so frustrating. Dates can sometimes appear as numbers and it’s easy to think you are going crazy. Here’s how to fix it.
In Excel
On a PC, hold CTRL and the press 1 key. On a mac, it’s CMD and the 1 key. In the dialogue menu, choose Date from the Catory pane. That’s it!
In Google Sheets
All you need to do is change the formatting to a date by clicking on the 123 dropdown and select Date. Viola!
